The UK 91С»Æ³µ is dedicated to educating the next generation of compassionate, highly skilled physicians and scientists, with special emphasis on training more physicians in Kentucky, for Kentucky. 

The 91С»Æ³µ congratulates 39 medical students who were selected as members of Alpha Omega Alpha, a national medical honor society that honors those who demonstrate professionalism, leadership, scholarship, research, and community service in the medical field.

After serving for eight years as the assistant dean for clinical education, John Ragsdale, MD, MS, has been promoted to associate dean for curriculum. 

Over the summer, a cohort of five rising second-year medical students participated in a four-week pilot exposing them to quality improvement (QI) concepts as inaugural members of the Churchill Summer QI Research Fellows program.

The UK 91С»Æ³µ Standardized Patient Program launched in the late 1980s, and over the subsequent decades, has become deeply engrained throughout all four years of our students' medical training. 

Gina Wesley, PhD, serves as manager of the program, bringing years of expertise in higher education, program management, and moulage skills to the role. 

The 91С»Æ³µ is pleased to announce that Aradhana Kaushal, MD, has been named assistant dean for the Rural Physician Leadership Program (RPLP) in Morehead, Ky. 

Last week, across our campuses, we welcomed 207 new medical students to the UK 91С»Æ³µ Class of 2028!

The 91С»Æ³µ is a multicampus institution that delivers excellent undergraduate medical education across four sites in the Commonwealth. As we work to expand and enhance our care, training, and research across the state, we are excited to announce new leadership to oversee advancement in Bowling Green, Ky. 

At the UK 91С»Æ³µ, we embrace our responsibility to drive the change and the discovery required to improve health and wellness across the state. As a recognized leader in biomedical research, we focus on innovative, transformative, and collaborative discoveries from the bench to the bedside.

The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris kickoff this Friday, with its Opening Ceremony at 1:30 p.m. ET. The games will run until Sunday, Aug. 11.

Jeremy Swiney, MD, became interested in medicine after shadowing his hometown physician while in high school. Growing up in Magoffin County, Ky., Dr. Swiney witnessed the impact local physicians had on his small town, igniting a passion for serving rural communities. 

For years, the 91С»Æ³µâ€™s Professional Education Preparation Program (PEPP)-Scholars has provided summer academic enrichment activities to rising college freshmen from racially/ethnically underrepresented or rural backgrounds. The goal of this early exposure to the field of medicine carries with it the hope of solidifying their commitment to the career path.

Thanks to a student-led effort, free sunscreen dispensers are available throughout the University of Kentucky’s medical campus. 

The dispensers — which offer passersby a hypoallergenic SPF 30 perfect for all skin types — are the idea of second-year 91С»Æ³µ students Noor Ali and Parisa ShamaeiZadeh.  

Just a few weeks into Alexander Muto’s first year of medical school, disaster struck his hometown of Lahaina, Hawaii. 

On Saturday, May 11, we celebrated the graduation of 195 medical students from the UK 91С»Æ³µ Class of 2024!

The 91С»Æ³µ is excited to share the winners of the third annual Mission, Vision, Pillar, and Enabler (MVPE) Awards.

Thaddeus Salmon, MD, was recognized by the University of Kentucky as a 2024 Outstanding Teaching Awardee. Dr. Salmon, an alum of the UK 91С»Æ³µ, is an assistant professor of medicine and pediatrics. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Salmon on this recognition! 

The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees on Friday approved plans to proceed with the acquisition of St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
