Training in Child Abuse Pediatrics at UK
The Child Abuse Pediatrics Fellowship at the University of Kentucky is a three-year, ACGME-accredited training program designed to prepare physicians to provide expert, compassionate care to children impacted by abuse and neglect. We offer a uniquely interdisciplinary and customizable experience, built on a strong foundation of clinical training, research, prevention, and policy advocacy.

Fellowship Highlights
Fully Customizable Curriculum: Fellows shape their experiences based on clinical interests, research goals, and career path.
Robust Clinical Exposure: Gain hands-on experience through rotations with the Children's Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass, State Medical Examiner's Office, Shriner's Hospital for Children, and more.
Hospital-Integrated Clinic: Our centrally located, hospital-based clinic is adjacent to the pediatric emergency department, providing seamless care and access.
Interdisciplinary Support Team: Collaborate with licensed clinical social workers, forensic nurses, APPs, psychologists and therapy dogs.
Strong Advocacy Network: Participate in advocacy initiatives through partnerships with Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky, Face It Movement and Kentucky鈥檚 Safe Kids Coalition.

Curriculum Overview
Year 1: Clinical immersion, hospital-based assessments, partnership site rotations
Year 2: Research development, elective customization, advocacy engagement
Year 3: Advanced clinical leadership, research completion, mentorship of junior learners
Each year integrates didactic learning, journal clubs, and opportunities for national conference participation.

How to Apply
We recruit one fellow every three years, with the next application cycle opening July 2025.
